Day 51: The Productivity Hangover

day-51:-the-productivity-hangover

Today was one of those “good” days. Minimal lectures, maximum focus. I finally wrestled with asynchronous JavaScript and promises and came out on top. The path to starting React feels shorter than ever, maybe just a couple of days away.

But the feeling isn’t celebratory. It’s more of a low-humming exhaustion. A headache that sits right behind the eyes. It’s the paradox of deep work: the more you get done, the more your brain feels like a depleted battery. You end the day feeling accomplished on paper, but in reality, you just want to lie down and not think for 12 hours straight. Does anyone else feel like the reward for being productive is just a desperate craving for a break?

On a related note, I’m realizing there’s a whole other curriculum here that isn’t on the syllabus. I see people around me seamlessly connecting with seniors, getting advice, and building a network. I, on the other hand, feel like I’m playing a different game, one where I haven’t even figured out the basic controls for initiating a conversation. It’s a strange feeling to be making progress in your code but feeling completely stuck in everything else.

For now, I guess I’ll take the win with JavaScript and put the social stuff on the back burner. Maybe I’ll just watch a movie. Or just sleep.
