.NET ning paydo bo’lishi 1990 – yiodan boshlangan. Bu paytda Microsoft kompaniyasi uchun kuchli va moslashuvchan qurilma kerak edi va u dasturchilarga yangi dasturiy yechimlar topish uchun sharoit yaratib berishi kerak edi. Shu tariqa ilovalar tuzish hududini o’girish uchun poydevor bo’lgan .NET platformasi yaratildi.
2000-yilda Microsoft .NET qurilmasi taqdim etdi, hamda kengaytirilgan va mustahkam ilovalar uchun birlashgan dasturlash modeli va ish vaqti muhitini tanishtirdi. Ushbu qurilma keng qamrovli kutubxonalar , uskunalar va rivojlanish jarayonini tahlilga soluvchi va ilovani joylashtirishni osonlashtiruvchi xizmatlari ta’minlandi.
