The social networking site Mastodon has seen a huge boost in popularity this week due to the high-profile change in Twitter leadership. Since Mastodon is federated, there are various servers to be joined and engaged with, each with their own topics and vibes.
mastodon.social, the only server (I think?) actually run and moderated by the folks behind Mastodon, has been a little laggy and overrun as an influx of Twitter defectors arrived this week. It’s also a very generalized space, with nearly each local post in my feed addressing a different topic.
