In this episode of the SaaS Revolution Show our host Alex Theuma is joined by Tom Lavery, Founder & CEO Jiminny, who shares the story of how they got to $3M ARR with no sales OR marketing team.

Definitely about running your own race, I think everyone can obsessed with ‘how do I be the number one in the market, how can I be the biggest, how beat this company’, that forces you to make the wrong decisions a lot of the time. I think it took me a couple of years to get comfortable with that as a founder, as a first-time founder.

Tom shares:

  • Why they didn’t follow the ‘growth at all costs’ mentality
  • Separating work-life from home-life when your co-founder is your partner
  • The importance of running your own race and not focusing on competition
  • Doing unscalable things to become scalable
  • Moving from founder-led sales to non-repeatable founder-led sales
  • The impact of in-house training & personality profiling as a team

In this episode of the SaaS Revolution Show, our host Alex Theuma is joined by Allan Mørch, Founder & CEO AskCody, who shares his story on resilience and how, after overcoming cancer, built a $5M ARR SaaS business.

You build this character around yourself, right? And everybody talks about founder-branding – I was the founder of AskCody and that was my identity, I couldn’t be anything else. And all of a sudden I looked in to the mirror and I just saw this guy that I couldn’t recognise, I didn’t know who that guy was. And I really wanted to be an entrepreneur because I fought so hard to make that my character and my identity, right? So my coping mechanism was to really escape from being a cancer patient, I couldn’t connect with being a cancer patient, I didn’t want to go to sessions with other cancer patients and talk with them, I couldn’t identify as that…

Allan shares:

  • The founding story of AskCody
  • His new perspective on life/business post-diagnosis
  • The importance of team communication and support
  • The best advice he’s ever received
  • The hardest thing about scaling in 2023
  • Why he joined the SaaStock Founder Membership (SFM)

In this episode our host Alex Theuma is joined by John Collins, consultant and advisor to tech companies, who discusses if we have in fact reached peak content in the SaaS industry.

I think a lot of people just don’t have a strong strategy and figure out how they’re going to get traffic to that content, how they’re going to stand out amongst the noise. There is just so much stuff! And I always say as well, you’re not just competing with other  B2B SaaS content, you’re competing for people’s attention.

Collins works with B2B clients to develop their content marketing and communications strategies. His clients range from fintech startups to online educators and are located in North America and Europe, and he is also an active angel investor in SaaS and media startups. Previously, Collins held the roles of Head of Content & Communications at Ramp, and Director of Content at Intercom.

In this episode, Collins shares:

  • Lessons on building content machines at both Intercom and Ramp
  • How we can win with content marketing going forward
  • His thoughts on SaaS companies buying Communities/Media companies
  • His take on SEO as a strategy – does it work?
  • What’s next for him!

and more!

From the SaaStock 2022 Scale Stage: Godard Abel (Co-founder and CEO G2) discusses surviving and thriving in a downturn: his lessons learned weathering economic storms over 25 years building SaaS leaders.

“Software is eating the world” I love that quote from Marc Andreessen and he said that in 2012. We are all creating SaaS apps to automate every part of every business, every industry, and I think companies are going to keep investing in digitisation and I think we’re so far from done, AI, data – we’re all just at the beginning. So there’s a massive longterm opportunity for us, and I think if we just adapt and use this downturn to get smarter and get more efficient, we survive it. What I’ve always seen, ultimately, is the sunshine does return and maybe we’re in a bit of a blizzard now and we hunker down, but the sun does always come back, and we can use this time to get better and stronger together, and ultimately we can all achieve our dreams together.

Godard shares what it takes to weather economic storms and market downturns as a SaaS leader. Surviving the downturn and thriving to success can be done. Join him to hear the lessons learned from over 25 years of working to stay ahead of the game.
